Maintaining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s initial back four seems unsustainable, especially considering Raphael Varane’s less than ideal preparation for this game. Victor Lindelof will likely start.

Kobbie Mainoo should be brought into midfield as United require a midfielder who can hold onto the ball. Mainoo showed composure in the intense match in Istanbul, so anything else may not be as challenging.

Antony had a standout performance for United in the last match, and the front four should not be changed just because Marcus Rashford is available again.

Onana needs support rather than being benched to address his confidence, and Wan-Bissaka would be a smart choice against the in-form Anthony Gordon. Varane should start instead of Lindelof, a decision that should have been made weeks ago.

Mainoo deserves another chance to showcase his abilities, and there isn’t much room for further changes in central midfield. Antony showed significant improvement in Turkey, and Rashford has earned the right to start matches based on merit.

It could be argued that Onana should be dropped for this game, but Bayindir doesn’t seem like a convincing alternative. Moving the Cameroon international to the bench could worsen the situation.

Onana needs to bounce back, and it’s time for Varane to return to the team in front of him. Mainoo brings more to the midfield than Amrabat, and the youngster should be given the opportunity in the North East.

Although Antony improved in the last match, he should make way for Rashford, and Garnacho should continue on the left.
