‘You can’t help people that don’t want help’ – Brooks Koepka rips Matt Wolff yet again at LIV team event – GolfWRX

The 2023 LIV season is coming to a close, with only the team event at Trump Doral remaining.

Individual points can no longer be earned this season, so the relegation process has begun. Six players have finished in the “drop zone”, but two of them are captains (Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer) and are therefore ineligible for relegation.

Jediah Morgan of Ripper GC, James Piot of HyFlyers GC, Chase Koepka of Smash GC, and Sihwan Kim of Iron Heads GC have all finished in the bottom four of the individual season standings and must face relegation.

Players who finished 25-44 in the standings are considered in the “open zone” and teams will have the option to retain their players or sign other players from the open zone. Players who finished 1-24 are safe on their current teams.

The four relegated players, along with several others, will have a chance to earn their way back in the LIV Golf Promotions event.

LIV has faced criticism and been labeled as a “closed circuit” due to their selective process and lack of a qualifying system. The promotions event is a step towards changing this perception and showcasing that players can earn their place on the LIV tour.

The event will take place from December 8th to December 10th at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. It will be a 72-hole event, with 18 holes played on Friday, December 8th and Saturday, December 9th, and 36 holes played on Sunday, December 10th.

Players eligible for round one include: Players ranked #6-#32 on the Asian Tour’s International Series’ Order of Merit, the U.S. Amateur Champion, the British Amateur Champion, the Latin-American Amateur Champion, the Asia-Pacific Amateur Champion, the European Amateur Champion, the Top-200 from the OWGR, and the Top-20 from the WAGR.

In round two, the top-20 and ties from round one will advance, along with the relegated LIV Golf players from 2023, the DPWT and PGA Tour 2023 winners, any major champion since 2018, any Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup participants, and players ranked #1-#5 of the Asian Tour International Series Order of Merit.

The top-16 players remaining on the leaderboard will advance to the 36-hole shootout on Sunday, with the top-3 earning a spot on LIV in 2024.
