Wolves’ Reid and McDaniels Experience NBA 2K24 Rating Decline Despite Team Success: What’s Driving the Drop?

On Thursday afternoon, NBA 2K24 unveiled its highly anticipated latest player ratings update. Notably, three exceptional players saw significant boosts to their overall numbers. Phoenix Suns’ standout guard Devin Booker received a +1 upgrade, putting him at a 95 overall. Meanwhile, rising star Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers saw a +2 increase, elevating him to a 92 overall. Chet Holmgren, the Oklahoma City forward and Minnesota native, also enjoyed a +2 rise, bringing him to an impressive 85 overall.

2K lauded all three players for their instrumental roles in their teams’ successful starts to the season. The Phoenix Suns currently hold the 6th spot in the Western Conference with an 11-8 record, while the Oklahoma City Thunder are placed 3rd in the West with a 12-6 standing. Additionally, the Indiana Pacers boast a 9-8 record, positioning them at 7th place in the East.

Despite these notable upgrades, the current best record in the Western Conference belongs to the Minnesota Timberwolves, holding a remarkable 14-4 record with a one-game lead over the rest of the pack. Nonetheless, two prominent players from the Wolves experienced a decline in their ratings in the latest update.

Karl-Anthony Towns saw a modest +1 increase, with his rating now at 86 overall. Given his impressive performance in November and being instrumental in the team’s successful stint, this rating seems relatively low for what KAT has showcased on the court. On the other hand, Naz Reid suffered a -2 downgrade, landing him at a respectable 79 overall, despite contributing significantly to the team’s offensive prowess off the bench.

Jaden McDaniels also faced a minor setback, dropping to an 80 overall. This decision, however, seemed perplexing, especially considering McDaniels’ guard efficiency before succumbing to an injury. On the other hand, several players like Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, and Troy Brown Jr. should have received alterations to their ratings, according to expert opinions.

The season will continue to unfold, and 2K’s ratings will follow suit. Stay tuned for more updates as the NBA season progresses!
