When it comes to finding motivation to pursue your goals, A’ja Wilson is a shining example. After inviting Usher to two consecutive championship parades, she finally received a response.

“A’ja Wilson, I got yo’ message. I see you. I hear you,” Usher said in a video posted to social media Wednesday. “Couldn’t be at the parade, but wanted to send this out to you to say congratulations and all the lovely ladies that once again, did it again. That’s right, back-to-back baby!”

Not only did Usher congratulate Wilson and her teammates, but he also extended an invitation of his own.

“Come see me do it my way here in Vegas,” he said, referring to his “My Way” Las Vegas residency. “We stick together. We love one another. Congratulations on this achievement, and I’ll see you soon.”

Wilson was thrilled by Usher’s message and responded with a swooning GIF.

This excitement is understandable, given how persistent Wilson was in her efforts to get Usher’s attention. It all began after the Aces won the 2022 title against the Connecticut Sun.

“But Usher, I better see you, Usher. I’m not playing with you,” the 27-year-old said as she held a bottle of Champagne. She shared her vision for the parade, even insisting that everyone drink four shots before attending.

Although Usher didn’t show up to the championship celebration, he tried to make amends by visiting the Aces’ gym in April. Unfortunately, Wilson wasn’t present at the time. Fans reacted to a photo of her teammate Jackie Young with Usher, but Wilson had already logged off.

“Goodnight everyone,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, accompanied by a straight-faced emoji.

This year, after leading the Aces to back-to-back WNBA championships, Wilson made another attempt to get Usher’s attention:

She even publicly reminded Usher about the parade a day before it took place, but he still didn’t join the Aces as they celebrated through the streets of Las Vegas.

Teammate Sydney Colson commented on Usher’s invitation, noting that it seemed to be exclusively for Wilson. Colson played a crucial role in the championship game, contributing two points and an assist off the bench.

Wilson jokingly responded to Colson’s comment about the points:

Colson can be heard shouting Adele’s name during the postgame news conference, which caught Usher’s attention. Perhaps she’ll receive her own invitation, as the English singer-songwriter also has a residency in Las Vegas.

If not, it’s likely that all the Aces players will have the opportunity to see Usher’s show. He will also be the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show in February, which will be watched by millions of Americans.
