We’re approaching the defense of Notre Dame’s ACC regular-season title in women’s basketball. Before that, let’s celebrate the remarkable performances of two former Irish players in the WNBA. They were recently honored by being named to the Second Team All-WNBA.
In terms of statistics, Jewell Loyd from the Seattle Storm had an outstanding season. She claimed the league’s scoring title with an average of 24.7 points per game, which is the second-highest scoring average in WNBA history. Loyd was also named the Most Valuable Player of the WNBA All-Star Game after setting records for points (31) and 3-pointers (10). However, despite her stellar performance, the Storm had a disappointing record of 11-29, the second-worst in the league.
Jackie Young from the Las Vegas Aces is on the verge of winning the WNBA championship. Young has played a crucial role in the Aces’ successful season, averaging a career-high 17.6 points per game and shooting an impressive 44.9% from beyond the arc, the second-best shooting percentage in the league. She was also voted as a starter in the All-Star Game.
