Three Chiefs players make PFF’s midseason All-Pro team

The Kansas City Chiefs’ stars are accustomed to seeing their names in the same familiar places year after year. Whether it’s media publications or the league itself releasing All-Star teams or lists of the top players, those same names consistently appear. However, as the 2023 season progresses, some Chiefs players are notably absent from midseason lists while new ones are emerging.

This shift may signify the changing of the guard in Kansas City, transitioning from Patrick Mahomes’ early years to his prime with a new supporting cast.

Pro Football Focus recently unveiled its midseason All-Pro list for the 2023 campaign, with only three Chiefs players making the team. Surprisingly, Mahomes, the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player, was conspicuously absent, replaced by Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen based on PFF metrics.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones was also missing from the list, despite a strong performance after sitting out the first game of the season. However, his efforts were not enough to surpass Aaron Donald or Quinnen Williams.

Among the Chiefs players who made the list, tight end Travis Kelce continues to dominate as the league’s top player in his position, even amid minor injuries in his 11th NFL season.

Additionally, cornerback Trent McDuffie secured a spot on the All-Pro team in a flex secondary role, showcasing his impressive play with four forced fumbles this season.

Left guard Joe Thuney was also recognized as the backup at his position, solidifying his role as an integral part of the Chiefs’ offensive line.
