Team Josh Allen? Chiefs superstar says penalty on Bills QB among weakest he’s ever seen

Following his victory over the Miami Dolphins earlier in the day, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce eagerly tuned in to watch the game featuring the Buffalo Bills squaring off against the Cincinnati Bengals. Buffalo and Cincinnati have fiercely contested the Chiefs’ dominance over the last several seasons, so Kelce was undoubtedly interested in seeing how the game would unfold.

The Bills managed to stage a comeback with a scoring drive that culminated in a touchdown run by Josh Allen, and while heading into the end zone, Allen pointed at a Bengals defender, resulting in a taunting penalty.

Like many football fans and Allen himself, Kelce was shocked by the penalty. He discussed it on his “New Heights” podcast, expressing his incredulity and frustration with the call.

Kelce exclaimed, “Who is struggling right now, is my guy Josh Allen. And he was struggling with this taunting penalty. Man, it’s f–ked up, man. You can’t point at a guy? … This is so f–king wack.”

Kelce then provided a detailed analysis of the incident and criticized the league for its definition of taunting.

“In the first quarter of the Bills-Bengals game on Sunday Night Football, Josh Allen pump fakes a guy, points at him and laughs and yeah, he got a taunting penalty for pointing at him. Because you can’t point at a guy,” Kelce sarcastically said. “It’s illegal. It’s taunting. You can call him anything you want, but can’t point at him. This is so f–king wack. So wack.”

Kelce, along with his brother Jason, continued to criticize the call, labeling it one of the weakest taunting penalties they’ve seen.

“One of the weakest taunting calls you’ve ever seen? Probably,” Kelce said. “I’m not sure if I’ve seen too many of them… I think it’s bogus. I’m on Josh’s team on this. This is bulls–t.”

Kelce’s comments reflect the sentiments of many; the NFL’s definition of taunting has gone too far. He hopes that if enough influential players voice their dissent, the league will reevaluate its stance on taunting.
