What inspired Miller to venture into the world of podcasts in his second season at Xavier?
“From my perspective, it’s about having some fun. Once you’re immersed in the intensity of games and practices, days seem to blend together,” Miller said. “This podcast allows me to talk about a game I love, the city of Cincinnati, and Xavier University in a more lighthearted and entertaining way.”
Anthony Breen, CEO of Synergistic, founded 1831 Media Network to follow media trends. Recognizing the growing popularity of coaches and players hosting podcasts, Breen decided to start with his alma mater, Xavier University.
“We wanted to give the man in the arena a chance to take the microphone,” Breen said. “Sean Miller has incredible stories and an incredible background. With the changing landscape of college athletics, this is the perfect time for him to directly connect with his audience.”
To ensure the success of the podcast, Breen assembled a team of hosts and producers, including former Cincinnati Enquirer reporter Adam Baum and Xavier men’s basketball in-game host and Big East Conference broadcaster Paul Fritschner. Together, they will host “The Sean Miller Podcast.”
“We aim to create a unique podcast that focuses on storytelling. It will be guest-oriented, allowing Sean (Miller) to share his life in basketball, his experiences, and his voice,” Baum explained. “While everyone seems to have a podcast these days, it’s rare to find an active head coach with their own show. We’re excited to showcase Sean’s perspective and give fans and basketball enthusiasts a captivating experience.”
Fritschner, a Xavier University graduate, expressed his excitement for the opportunity to combine his passion for basketball with his broadcasting skills.
“This project brings together everything I’ve worked for in one place,” said Fritschner, who joined the team in August. “I’m thrilled to contribute to this podcast and share Sean Miller’s stories with fans around the college basketball world.”
“The Sean Miller Podcast” will be available on all major podcasting platforms, as well as on Reference
