Steph Curry Embraces Sabrina Ionescu’s Challenge Following Her Record-Breaking 3-Point Shooting Performance

Sabrina Ionescu’s astonishing performance in a 3-point shooting contest turned heads, including that of Steph Curry.

During the WNBA All-Star Weekend, Ionescu set a new WNBA record by scoring 37 points in the second round of the contest. She made 25 of 27 shots, with 20 consecutive successful shots, surpassing Curry and Tyrese Haliburton’s NBA-record of 31 points in a similar contest during the NBA All-Star Weekend.

Following her record-shattering performance, the New York Liberty and former Oregon star humorously threw down the gauntlet, challenging Curry to a 3-point shooting contest.

The NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers, Curry, accepted the challenge. He teased the possibility of returning to the NBA’s 3-point shooting contest to break Ionescu’s record and agreed to compete against her to determine the ultimate 3-point shooter, at least in a contest setting.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “NBA Today,” Curry declared, “I gotta go after Sabrina’s record. We’ve got to settle that for sure to see who’s the best 3-point competition shooter.”

When Ionescu saw Curry’s interview and challenge, she responded with a playful “Let’s get ittt” accompanied by laughing emojis.

Should this anticipated showdown materialize, Curry had best bring his A-game. Ionescu, who boasts a 35.6% career 3-point shooting average, is currently shooting a career-high 44.6% from beyond the arc this season.
