St. Xavier High School announces construction of a new golf practice facility

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The St. Xavier High School athletic department is excited to announce the upcoming construction of a brand new outdoor practice facility for the Bombers’ golf program. This development will not only enhance the team’s training opportunities but also contribute to their continued success on the golf course.

The new practice green, set to be completed prior to Thanksgiving, will be situated on South Campus. To bring this project to life, we have partnered with Southwest Greens, a trusted company known for their expertise in constructing top-quality golf facilities. The facility will include a spacious synthetic green spanning approximately 4,000 square feet, a sand bunker, and expansive areas of artificial turf at various lengths. These features will allow the St. X golfers to refine their skills and elevate their performance.

In addition, this cutting-edge practice area will offer six permanent bays specifically designed for practicing wedge and short game skills. The facility will also provide three portable, modular tees that can be adjusted between distances of 70 to 180 yards, providing the perfect environment for athletes to work on their mid-iron shots.

Not only will the facility cater to team practices, but it will also accommodate individual practice sessions for team members at designated times. We believe that this new space will be instrumental in the continuous improvement of our players’ abilities.

St. X athletic director Brian Reinhart expressed his gratitude and excitement, stating, “We are truly fortunate to have the resources to provide exceptional facilities for our 900-plus student-athletes. The addition of this state-of-the-art golf area presents a unique opportunity for our players to practice their skills year-round, as we strive for excellence in all aspects of our program.”

The St. X golf team has an impressive track record, having won nine consecutive Greater Catholic League championships and five consecutive sectional titles. They have consistently qualified for the state championships, including this fall where they secured a commendable sixth-place finish in the Division I tournament.
