TORONTO — Pascal Siakam’s season-high 39 points led the Toronto Raptors to an epic comeback victory over the Washington Wizards, overcoming a 23-point deficit to secure a 111-107 win on Monday night.
Siakam was the catalyst for the Raptors’ resurgence, scoring 22 points in the third quarter and finishing with 11 rebounds.
“He drove us all the way,” said Raptors forward Chris Boucher. “It shows how competitive he is, but also how much he cares about this team.”
This marks the second time in eight days that the Raptors have fought back from a significant deficit to emerge victorious, displaying their resilience and determination on the court.
Despite Washington’s Kyle Kuzma scoring a season-high 34 points, Toronto’s relentless effort ultimately prevailed, with the Raptors finishing the game on a 21-1 run.
Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl, and Precious Achiuwa also played pivotal roles in the Raptors’ win, contributing to the team’s third consecutive victory over the Wizards.
Reflecting on the impressive comeback, Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic stated, “We ended up winning the game, but, to be honest with you, I prefer not to dig a hole of 19 points at halftime.”
Notably, Raptors forward O.G. Anunoby and guard Gary Trent Jr. were sidelined, while Washington rested forward Danilo Gallinari and former Raptor Delon Wright due to injury concerns.
