Panthers sign LB Tae Davis

The Carolina Panthers bolstered their linebacker group with the addition of veteran Tae Davis, the team revealed on Tuesday. This move came as the Panthers made corresponding changes, releasing offensive guard Calvin Throckmorton.

Additionally, the Panthers welcomed back veteran tackle David Sharpe to their 53-player roster after he was released and subsequently signed to the practice squad last week. This series of moves showcases the team’s ongoing effort to address the absence of linebacker Shaq Thompson, who suffered a season-ending injury.

Davis, 27, brings a wealth of experience, having been released by the Falcons just the week before. His extensive career includes stints with the Giants, Browns, Texans, and Raiders, with 53 games and five starts under his belt.

As for Throckmorton, he had started the previous seven games for the Panthers, with 20 starts for the Saints over the past three seasons. His departure leaves the Panthers with various options to fill the gap, with rookie Chandler Zavala being one of them.

Meanwhile, Sharpe, a seasoned tackle, had played two games earlier in the season as a backup before being brought back to the active roster.

In addition to these changes, the Panthers also let go of guard Deonte Brown from the practice squad.
