New Albany completes girls golf three-peat

On October 24th, New Albany clinched their third consecutive girls golf state title, solidifying themselves as the dominant force in the sport. Adeline Bailey emerged as the top scorer in the individual standings, while Lucy King secured a respectable third-place finish. New Albany’s exceptional performance was aided by a unique scheduling twist, as the girls golf season was moved from spring to fall this year, allowing them to secure two titles in just a few short months.

“The feeling of winning is absolutely incredible,” exclaimed New Albany coach Shane Sanderson. “Winning one state title is already a significant accomplishment, but to secure three in a row is an indescribable feeling.”

The Bulldogs showcased their prowess at the Clear Creek Golf Club in Vicksburg, outshining the competition with a staggering 46-stroke lead over second-place Greene County.

“We have a group of incredibly talented golfers,” Sanderson proudly stated. “They possess a remarkable ability to listen and make intelligent decisions on the course. The course was relatively short, but my top two girls displayed exceptional strategy by keeping the driver in the bag. We couldn’t be prouder of their performance.”

With a remarkable score of 75 on Tuesday and an overall score of 145, Bailey left the rest of the field trailing behind. She finished an astonishing 13 strokes ahead of Addison Pulliam from Greene County.

“Bailey is a force to be reckoned with, truly a special talent,” Sanderson praised. “She managed an impressive 2-under score yesterday, and although she may have desired an even better score today, her round of 75 is outstanding. We are extremely proud of her.”

Sanderson also took a moment to acknowledge the exceptional leadership and performance of the team’s seniors.

“All three of our seniors outperformed their previous day’s scores,” Sanderson acknowledged. “Their growth and impact on the team cannot be understated. We will truly miss them, not only for their skill but for the camaraderie they brought to the team. Sunday nights won’t be the same without them. We are immensely grateful for their contributions.”
