Here are the standout performers from the Mountain West Conference on Special Teams through Week 10.

1. Jose Pizano, K – UNLV

Pizano has been exceptional as the Place Kicker for the Runnin’ Rebs this season. He’s contributed an impressive 94 total points for UNLV, boasting a stellar 19/20 FGs and a perfect 37/37 on extra point tries. His longest field goal of the year, a 52-yarder, showcased his reliability and accuracy.

2. Jack Browning, K/P – San Diego State

While not as heavily relied upon as Pizano, Browning has showcased his long-distance kicking ability with an extraordinary 61-yard FG earlier in the season. His multitasking skills are also on display as he handles punting duties for SDSU, earning him the nickname “rocket-launcher” for his powerful leg.

3. Brandon Talton, K – Nevada

Talton’s impact goes beyond the numbers, with 10/14 FGs, 16/16 XPM, and 46 TP contributing significantly to the Wolf Pack’s success. Amidst the team’s offensive struggles, he remains a reliable point scorer and played a crucial role in their first victory of the season against San Diego State.

4. Jakorey Hawkins, S – Wyoming

Although not a kicker, Hawkins showcased the game-changing potential of Special Teams with a spectacular 60+ yard return for a touchdown after blocking a field goal. This clutch play sealed the game for Wyoming and earned Hawkins the title of Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week.

5. Malik Sherrod, RB – Fresno State

Known primarily for his offensive prowess, Sherrod delivered a standout performance on Special Teams with a game-changing 95-yard kick return in Fresno State’s victory over Boise State. His versatility and impact on both offense and Special Teams make him a rare talent.
