Looking ahead to 2023 Section III football finals

2023 Football Championships to be Held at Syracuse University’s JMA Dome

After a season of gridiron battles, Section III is preparing to reveal six football champions this weekend at Syracuse University’s JMA Wireless Dome. Returning champions include Cicero-North Syracuse, General Brown, and Dolgeville, competing in the largest (AA) and smallest (C and D) 11-player classes. Four No. 1 seeds will be in action, with Class B New Hartford and Class AA Christian Brothers Academy of Syracuse playing in 1-vs.-2 games in the final two contests on Sunday. All undefeated schools, including Frankfort-Schuyler in the eight-player division, enter the championship week. After the champions are decided, they will play regional games on the road next weekend at Vestal High School and would return to greater Syracuse for regional playoffs at Cicero-North Syracuse the following weekend. The state championships will go back indoors on December 2nd and 3rd. Kickoff both days for the sectional finals is at noon with games following at 3 and 6 p.m.

No. 6 East Syracuse-Minoa vs. No. 1 Whitesboro

Sunday Competition:
Class C
No. 2 General Brown vs. No. 4 Adirondack
Class B
No. 2 Indian River vs. No. 1 New Hartford
