Kittle bests Vernon Davis’ 49ers tight end record in efficient fashion

George Kittle bests Vernon Davis’ 49ers tight end record in efficient fashion originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

George Kittle showcased his brilliance despite the 49ers’ 31-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.

The talented tight end, with his exceptional performance, broke the record for all-time receiving yards by a tight end in the 49ers franchise.

Kittle’s career receiving yards of 5,697 surpassed the previous record of 5,640 held by former 49ers tight end Vernon Davis.

It’s worth noting that Kittle achieved this milestone in just 90 games across seven seasons, while Davis reached the same mark in 139 games over 10 seasons.

Since being drafted by the 49ers in 2017, Kittle has become a key part of their offense. His career stats include 427 receptions, 34 touchdowns, and an average of 4.7 catches per game.

Kittle’s ascent to the top of the 49ers’ tight end receiving yards record is fitting, given his average of 13.3 yards per reception, which has resulted in numerous first downs and thousands of yards gained.

Despite the 49ers’ recent struggles, going 0-3 after starting the season 5-0, Kittle is on track for another impressive season. He has already recorded 32 catches for 443 yards and three touchdowns.

As the 49ers head into their Week 9 bye, coach Kyle Shanahan can rest assured that Kittle will continue to deliver impactful plays.
