The Sacramento Kings made some significant roster moves following their thrilling 116-113 preseason victory over the Utah Jazz. According to sources, the Kings have decided to waive 24-year-old guard Jaylen Nowell.

In the preseason, Nowell had limited playing time, appearing in only two out of the five games. He scored a total of five points in 13 minutes but struggled with his shooting, making only 1 of 6 attempts. Notably, he did not participate in the Kings’ victory against the Jazz.

Nowell, who was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft, spent four seasons with the team. He had a standout performance as a reserve player in the 2021-22 season, shooting an impressive 39.4% from beyond the arc. However, his shooting percentage dropped significantly to 28.9% last season.

The Kings have a strong guard rotation, featuring All-Star De’Aaron Fox, Kevin Huerter, and sixth man Malik Monk. They also have promising contributors like Chris Duarte and Davion Mitchell, as well as rookie Colby Jones, who showcased his skills with a 19-point performance in the preseason win against Utah.

In addition to waiving Jaylen Nowell, the Kings have also decided to sign undrafted free agents Jake Stephens and Dane Goodwin to Exhibit 10 contracts. Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson reported this news, citing a source.

With the preseason now behind them, the Kings are focused on their season opener against the Jazz on October 25 at Delta Center.
