Kelsey Plum secures her second WNBA championship with a romantic gesture. The Las Vegas Aces guard shares a passionate kiss with her husband, Giants tight end Darren Waller, on the court at Barclays Center after a hard-fought victory over the New York Liberty, 70-69, in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Wednesday night.
The couple, who exchanged vows on March 4 in Las Vegas, embrace in an emotionally charged moment. Plum can be seen shedding joyful tears as she rests her head on Waller’s chest.
Waller, an NFL star, was not only cheering on his wife from his courtside seat, but also proudly filming her with his phone after the game.
Contributing to the team’s victory, Plum recorded seven points, eight rebounds, and five assists in 40 minutes of play, making her the player with the most minutes on the Aces’ roster in Game 4. The Aces had to cope with the absence of starting point guard Chelsea Gray and center Kiah Stokes, who were both sidelined with foot injuries sustained in Game 3.
The Aces become part of an elite group consisting of the Los Angeles Sparks (2001-02) and the Houston Comets (1997-2000) as the only teams in WNBA history to achieve back-to-back titles. Last year, Las Vegas defeated the Connecticut Sun in four games to win the 2022 WNBA Championship.
Amidst the champagne celebrations, Plum brings out her big speaker, just as she did last year in Connecticut. It remains to be seen if she will smoke a cigar during the Aces championship parade, as she did during last year’s celebration.
The Aces have announced on Instagram that a championship celebration will take place on Oct. 23.
