Judging in Tyson Fury loss ‘a shame for boxing’

Francis Ngannou criticizes the scoring in his split decision defeat against Tyson Fury, deeming it detrimental to the reputation of boxing.

The former UFC heavyweight champion firmly believes that he outperformed Fury in their 10-round boxing match held in Saudi Arabia last Saturday – a sentiment shared by many online.

In spite of being at peace with the outcome, as he is proud of his performance in his boxing debut after leaving the UFC as heavyweight champion, Ngannou had a premonition that the judges’ decision may not favor him.

Ngannou shared his thoughts on his YouTube channel, stating, “I am confident that I won that fight, but I wasn’t surprised by what happened last night. I knew it would happen…. I think this reflects poorly on boxing. It is a disgrace to the sport. Those judges or whoever made those judgments should face consequences. I want to understand their reasoning.”

Ngannou firmly believes that his rivalry with Fury is far from over. While a rematch may not be scheduled next, the Cameroonian is optimistic that they will face each other again in the future.

He expressed, “I think Tyson is going to fight Oleksandr Usyk. I don’t know the exact timing, so I can’t say when we will have the rematch, but I am confident that it will happen. In the meantime, I have some MMA fights lined up. I might compete in the PFL, have some fights, and then return to boxing.”

“We will cross paths soon. It has been almost two years since my last competition, so I anticipate making a comeback within five to six months and competing at least twice next year. I don’t have a preference between MMA and boxing, but after last night, I am excited about boxing,” Ngannou added.
