Johnny Gaudreau and Patrik Laine Struggle as Columbus Blue Jackets Face Early Challenges

During the Columbus Blue Jackets’ recent game against the Detroit Red Wings, Johnny Gaudreau’s frustration was evident. Denton Mateychuk, like Dumais, faced uncertainty during training camp due to his age. However, he stood out as one of the best defensemen during the preseason. Though he didn’t make the NHL roster, Mateychuk has returned to the Western Hockey League and has already accumulated six assists in four games. With his impressive performance, he is expected to contribute even more points as he continues to develop.

Lastly, Trey Fix-Wolansky has shown his dominance in the AHL. After an impressive season last year, he has continued his success with the Cleveland Monsters. Scoring two goals and adding three assists in the team’s first two games, Fix-Wolansky has solidified his place as a standout player. If he maintains his current performance, a promotion to the NHL may be in his future.
