Jailton Almeida defeats Derrick Lewis by unanimous decision

Jailton Almeida dominated his main event bout against Derrick Lewis at UFC Sao Paulo and secured a unanimous decision victory.

Ranked No. 9 in the heavyweight division, Almeida remains undefeated in the UFC with a record of 6-0. His performance showcased his control as he consistently took down Lewis and gained full mount in every round. However, Almeida was unable to secure a finish against the powerful knockout artist.

Prior to the fight, Almeida expressed his aspirations of becoming the backup for UFC 295, which will feature a co-main event interim title bout between Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich. That card was organized after champion Jon Jones suffered an injury and withdrew from his scheduled fight against former champion Stipe Miocic.

Although Almeida went the distance in his fight against Lewis, it is unlikely he will be available as a replacement fighter for next week’s co-main event.
