The Jackson State football team showcased their skills and emerged victorious with a 45-30 win over Alabama A&M in the Gulf Coast Challenge.
Tigers coach T.C. Taylor witnessed an exceptional display of special teams, particularly from Dylan Wasson. Wasson’s 40-yard field goal against the wind provided Jackson State with some much-needed breathing room. With their top two kickers sidelined due to injuries, Taylor discovered Wasson on campus and invited him to try out. Additionally, Jackson State utilized their open week to focus on honing their special teams’ performance.
Offensively, quarterback Jason Brown demonstrated great efficiency and successfully connected with new targets such as Fabian McCray, who caught a 47-yard touchdown pass, and the speedy Seven McGee, who secured two touchdown passes.
This impressive effort led to Jackson State’s second consecutive victory, elevating their record to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in SWAC competition. Their next challenge awaits as they prepare for their homecoming game against Alabama A&M (2-3, 1-2) this Saturday at Mississippi Veteran Memorial Stadium.
