Game 1 of the WNBA Finals saw record viewership numbers on ESPN

The 2023 WNBA Finals are currently taking place, featuring an exciting matchup between the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces. In Game 1, the Aces emerged victorious with a score of 99-82, attracting a significant number of viewers. This game marked the highest viewership ever recorded for a WNBA Finals Game 1 on an ESPN network.

The game reached a peak of 885,000 viewers and maintained an average viewership of 729,000. The Aces have enjoyed the advantage of playing most of their games at home since August 31st and will continue to do so in Game 2, which is to be held on Wednesday at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

In Game 1, both Plum and guard Jackie Young scored an impressive 26 points, setting new personal records for playoff performance. The Liberty’s Breanna Stewart contributed 21 points and nine rebounds, Jonquel Jones scored 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Courtney Vandersloot provided eight assists.

Notable basketball figures such as LeBron James and Sheryl Swoopes attended the game, adding to the atmosphere along with a total attendance of 10,300.
