Faith, belief continue to push OLSH through injury-riddled season

MOON TWP. — When a team faces setbacks during a season, coaches often resort to cliché motivational sayings like ‘never give up’ and ‘it’s not about how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up.’ For Our Lady of Sacred Heart (OLSH), the 2023 season has been plagued with injuries, but the team has shown resilience and continued to fight for their sidelined teammates. Despite losses, OLSH aimed to make a deep playoff run this season with a reloaded roster of talented players. However, injuries started to take a toll on the team, beginning with senior wide receiver Dereon Greer tearing his ACL after a stellar performance. Brandon Brazell, another key player, later sprained his MCL, further affecting the team. Despite these setbacks, quarterback Vann Kavals rose to the occasion and became the team’s focal point. Kavals had overcome his own injury from the previous year and led the team both on offense and defense.
