Exciting Scouting and Player Personnel Updates Unveiled by Austin FC

Austin FC has made significant changes to its First Team scouting and recruitment and player personnel departments, which will greatly impact the club’s future. The team has established a brand new scouting and recruitment department, consisting of five full-time scouts stationed in Europe and South America. This addition aims to enhance Austin FC’s sporting department and improve their roster construction. As part of these changes, Manuel Junco, the former Chief Scout, has left the club. Additionally, Sean Rubio, the former Senior Vice President of Player Personnel, has decided to join another MLS club.

Austin FC Sporting Director, Rodolfo Borrell, emphasizes the importance of identifying global and national talent to achieve long-term success in MLS. He acknowledges the need for a fresh approach to player signings and believes that supporting Head Coach Josh and his staff with an expanded scouting network will be invaluable. Borrell expresses confidence in Coach Josh’s commitment and knowledge, affirming him as the right leader for the team. Borrell, who brings a wealth of experience from Manchester City FC, Liverpool FC, and FC Barcelona, will personally oversee Austin FC’s scouting and player personnel.

Further details regarding the new scouting and recruitment department at the First Team level will be disclosed prior to the 2024 season. Regarding the team’s performance this year, Austin FC Founder, Majority Owner, and CEO Anthony Precourt acknowledges the disappointment of not making the playoffs. However, he stresses that with Rodolfo’s appointment as Sporting Director and the restructuring of the scouting and recruiting department, there is reason for optimism in the upcoming season. The team will focus intensely on roster improvements as soon as roster flexibility and transfer windows allow.

To provide more insight into these changes, Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell will hold a press conference on October 10th at St. David’s Performance Center. The Austin FC Communications team will provide further details regarding media attendance.
