Former Manchester United footballer Ravel Morrison has been convicted of fraud after using a dead person’s blue badge to park, revealed Manchester City Council.
In his interview under caution, Morrison stated that he bought the badge for £50 from “someone in Old Trafford” according to the local authority.
Morrison, aged 30, residing in Westbrook, Warrington, was charged with one count of fraud. He appeared before Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to the offense, as confirmed by the council.
Consequently, he incurred a fine of £1,000 and was ordered to pay costs of £508 along with a victim surcharge of £400.
Attempts were made to approach Morrison, who has played for Jamaica and clubs such as West Ham, Birmingham, Middlesbrough, QPR, and Sheffield United, for comments.
The investigation concerning the parking of a white Audi S3 in Bridgewater Street, Manchester, on May 22 led to the discovery that the blue badge on display was invalid. The badge holder had passed away in February 2022, as reported by the local authority.
The vehicle was consequently handed a penalty charge notice and towed to the vehicle pound.
Later that day, Morrison, who has also played in various countries including the Netherlands, Italy, Mexico, Sweden, and the US, reclaimed his vehicle, according to the council.

A spokesman for the Manchester City Council stated, “This ruling proves that the law applies to everyone with no exceptions.
“I appreciate the diligent work of our investigating officers and legal counsel, which resulted in the successful prosecution of this case.
“Our officers monitor the streets daily to ensure valid use of blue badges and we will take action when evidence of circumvention of the law is discovered.”
Morrison began his career at Old Trafford alongside Wayne Rooney and later played for the retired England forward when he managed Derby and MLS club DC United.
