ESPN experts disagree on Florida’s bowl game destination after Week 7

The Florida Gators are back home and enjoying a bye week after their victory against the South Carolina Gamecocks last Saturday. They have emerged victorious in their last two matchups.

In ESPN’s notes from Week 7, college football experts made their postseason bowl game projections. Sportswriters Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach have different predictions about the Gators’ postseason fate.

Bonagura predicts that the Gators will face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 2023 Tax Slayer Gator Bowl. Both teams have experienced significant losses but have also managed to secure unexpected wins at home. Notre Dame triumphed over the USC Trojans in a prime-time Saturday night matchup, while Florida dominated the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 3.

On the other hand, Schlabach believes that the Gators will take on the Clemson Tigers in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. The Tigers recently defeated Wake Forest and are still recovering from their intense battle with the No. 4 Florida State Seminoles.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl is scheduled for December 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina, while the Tax Slayer Gator Bowl will take place in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 29.

In a similar projection, CBS Sports also placed the Gators in a matchup against the Duke Blue Devils. The Blue Devils would technically have the home-state advantage in the same bowl game.

Next up for Florida is a game against the Georgia Bulldogs on October 28 in Jacksonville, which is the same venue where the Gator Bowl will be held.
