Discover the Top Racing Champion from Alabama and Across the United States!

The most popular driver in NASCAR for the sixth consecutive time is Chase Elliott, despite missing seven races. This is the beginning of a 10-part series discussing the best driver from each state. It was no small feat, but we managed to find stock-car talent from all states including Alaska and South Dakota. Although we stretched the rules at times, we are including Xfinity and Truck Series drivers as well as ARCA and IMSA racers. This wide umbrella of drivers includes giants like Dan Gurney and Frank Kimmel.

Today, we present the best NASCAR racers from each state. We’ll be featuring the top drivers from Alabama through California over the coming weeks, beginning with Alabama’s Bobby Allison, part of the legendary “Alabama Gang.” This series will be presented alphabetically, five states at a time.

Bobby Allison of Alabama boasts 84 career wins, three Daytona 500 victories, and the 1983 Cup Series title. The Allison brothers originally hailed from Miami before relocating to Alabama to pursue their racing careers. Other notable drivers from Alabama include Davey Allison, Donnie Allison, Neil Bonnett, and Red Farmer.

Moving on to Alaska, Keith McGee stands out as the prominent figure from the 49th state although his racing career has been more modest. Michigan native Alex Bowman has made a name for himself with seven Cup Series wins since joining Hendrick Motorsports in 2016.

Arkansas native Mark Martin, a Hall of Famer, is one of the best NASCAR racers without a championship. He has a total of 40 Cup Series wins and 49 in the Busch/Xfinity Series. California’s own Jimmie Johnson is another standout in the series with seven Cup championships and 83 career wins.
