The Raiders were considered a scrappy team but not necessarily exceeding expectations after the first month of the season. They ranked 23rd in points allowed, giving up eight touchdowns through the air and an average of 134.3 rushing yards per game.

However, Crosby saw an opportunity to change the narrative during the prime-time game. He viewed it as the perfect stage to showcase his skills and shift the story.

“I believe we accomplished that,” he told ESPN’s Lisa Salters. “This is what I’m passionate about and what I was meant to do. It felt amazing to secure a win for the fans, right here in the stadium. There’s truly nothing better than that.”

Despite the Packers’ attempts to neutralize Crosby, whether by redirecting Love’s plays away from his side or employing double teams, the two-time Pro Bowler made his presence known throughout the game.

Crosby tied with Malcolm Koonce for the team lead in QB pressures, both recording four. Koonce benefited from the attention given to Crosby before exiting the game with a knee injury. Crosby’s four tackles for loss were especially impressive considering the rest of the Las Vegas team only managed one.

This marked Crosby’s 19th game with multiple tackles for loss, the second-highest in the NFL since 2019, behind T.J. Watt of the Steelers with 21, according to NFL Research.

Crosby, already with four more sacks than any other teammate, delivered his fifth of the season at a crucial moment. The Packers had scored on consecutive second-half drives and were in Raiders territory, trailing 17-13. Crosby’s sack of Love pushed them back 7 yards to the 47, halting the Packers’ momentum. On the next play, Love’s pass was tipped and intercepted by Robert Spillane for his second pick of the game.

“I take it personally,” Crosby expressed to Salters when asked about teams strategizing against him. “Everything I do, I always strive to exceed expectations. Every day, I aim to prove a point.”

His outstanding performance inspired the rest of the Raiders to follow his lead.

The defense particularly stood out in their pass defense. Love had entered the game with no interceptions on the road, having thrown six touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Raiders had only managed to intercept one pass in September. However, the defense changed the narrative with Spillane’s interceptions and Amik Robertson’s game-ending interception in the end zone with less than a minute remaining.

Robertson’s heroics became crucial after the Raiders chose to attempt a 52-yard field goal on fourth-and-2, which Daniel Carlson missed. Green Bay gained possession near midfield, needing a touchdown to win.

Although the defense faced some challenges, allowing the Packers to make two first downs and reach the Las Vegas 35-yard line, they ultimately delivered a decisive blow.

While the Raiders continue to search for their offensive rhythm, Crosby and the defense have given them a chance to improve their record with one game below .500 rather than three.

“As a defense, like I said, we take it personally,” Crosby emphasized. “There has been talk about our defense being the weak link. So, I take it personally, and I know the guys do too. We’re constantly getting better every day. We have room for improvement, but I think we’re off to a solid start.”
