Dayton-UC Basketball Tipoff Scheduled to Avoid Conflict with Same-Day Bengals Kickoff

The highly anticipated Hoops Classic showdown between the Dayton Flyers and UC Bearcats is set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. This scheduling decision was made to prevent any conflicts with the Bengals-Vikings game, which is also scheduled for the same day.

Event organizer bdG Sports officially announced the start time for this highly anticipated matchup. The game is part of a one-year agreement with the option for a second year.

“It’s thrilling to revive this fierce rivalry between two college basketball powerhouses,” said Brooks Downing, President & CEO of bdG Sports. “We are grateful to both coaches for their willingness to kick off this series.”

UC head coach Wes Miller expressed excitement about the partnership with bdG Sports and the opportunity to engage the local community through this high-profile college basketball event.

Dayton’s head coach Anthony Grant also shared his enthusiasm about the game, presented by altafiber and CareSource.

“This game will be a showcase of two tradition-rich programs with very passionate fan bases,” said Grant. “It promises to be an exciting matchup in non-conference play.”

This upcoming game marks the first meeting between the two rivals since 2010, when the Bearcats secured a 68-34 victory. The stakes are high as Cincinnati and Dayton have a longstanding rivalry, with the Bearcats currently holding a 60-31 advantage in their previous matchups.

The scheduling of the Hoops Classic was contingent on the Week 15 announcement by the NFL for the Bengals’ game against the Vikings. Tickets for the Cincinnati-Dayton basketball game can be purchased through HeritageBankCenter.com, Ticketmaster.com, or the Ticketmaster app. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ from a neutral site.
