Chris Buescher delivered an impressive performance on Sunday afternoon at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Playoffs, securing an 11th place finish.
Reflecting on the race, Buescher mentioned, “We encountered some challenges when we got caught in the dirty air, making it difficult for us to make progress for a while. However, we managed to regroup and make some significant advancements towards the end. It would have been great to have longer runs and green flag cycles to better demonstrate our capabilities, but we made the best out of the situation and achieved a respectable finish.”
Buescher started strong, qualifying fourth in the TravelCenters of America Ford on Saturday. He placed 17th in the opening stage and regained momentum to line up fifth for the start of stage two.
Teams employed different strategies throughout the race, opting to use scuff tires midway. Buescher’s set of four scuff tires was changed at lap 144, placing him 10th for a 16-lap shootout until the end of the stage, where he finished 15th.
Unfortunately, track position was not on Buescher’s side, as two yellow flags were waved in the final 60 laps. Despite restarting in 14th place with 51 laps to go, Buescher managed to surpass multiple competitors in the final laps, securing an 11th place finish.
