Brown believes Kings’ Fox should be MVP candidate every year originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
De’Aaron Fox continues to impress in the 2023-24 NBA season, following his breakout year in 2022-23.
The Kings’ point guard is currently averaging 29.6 points on 48.3 percent shooting, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists across eight games this season. Kings coach Mike Brown is confident that Fox has the potential to elevate his game even further.
“He’s just now scratching the surface, I’m telling you,” Brown commented on “The Athletic NBC Show.” “This dude has a chance to be one of the best. In my opinion, he should be an MVP candidate every single year he steps onto the floor.”
While fans are beginning to take notice of Fox’s skills, Brown had the opportunity to observe him closely before his NBA career even began.
Brown shared that he had the chance to watch Fox up close during a high school basketball camp, where Fox stood out among other promising players.
Brown reflected, “This kid has a chance to be the best two-way point guard in the league when he gets there.” He commended Fox’s size, strength, and quickness, and his undeniable tenacity on the court.
Brown also praised Fox’s work ethic and growth since joining the Kings, emphasizing that this is just the beginning for the young star.
It’s still early in the season, but Fox’s potential seems limitless. As Brown stated, he’s just getting started and there’s much more to come from him.
