Brink scores 1st 2 NHL goals for Flyers in win against Wild

Brink’s first goal was scored on the power play during the first period, giving the Flyers a 3-0 advantage. Couturier retrieved a loose puck from the corner on the left side of the Wild zone and attempted to pass it back to the point. However, the puck accidentally hit referee Chris Rooney’s skate, redirecting it to Brink who found himself alone in front of the net.

“It’s great to get a fortunate bounce like that,” Brink remarked. “A little luck and I was able to convert it. I noticed a small opening between the goalie’s legs. It’s always nice to get lucky.”

Brink then deflected a centering pass from Joel Farabee for his second goal of the game, extending the lead to 5-2 during the third period.

After participating in 10 games for the Flyers at the end of the 2021-22 season, Brink underwent hip surgery that kept him out of action for the first three months of the following season. Upon his recovery, he spent the rest of the season playing for Lehigh Valley in the American Hockey League.

“I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, and I believe that overcoming them makes this achievement even more special,” he expressed. “This is a truly remarkable moment for me. I’ve dreamt about it for years. Countless years of playing hockey and the sacrifices made by my parents, family, grandparents, aunts, and uncles all led to this moment. It’s a moment that I’ll cherish, not just for myself but for my entire family.”

The Flyers locker room reverberated with loud chants of “Bobby, Bobby” following the game.

“He’s been on fire lately,” Couturier exclaimed. “He’s been generating numerous scoring opportunities and chances. Sometimes, all it takes is one goal, and as you saw, he continued creating chances and eventually got his second goal.”
