Australian Cricketer Fawad Ahmed Announces Death Of 4-Month-Old Son

Mr Ahmed announced the tragic news on October 23.

Australian cricketer Fawad Ahmed has tragically announced the passing of his beloved four-month-old baby boy. Fawad and his wife welcomed their second child in June this year, but unfortunately, their son had been battling various health issues and was receiving treatment at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. On October 23, Fawad shared the heartbreaking news of his son’s death.

In an emotional post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Fawad wrote, “Till we meet again my little angel. Unfortunately, after a long and difficult fight, my precious boy has left us. I believe he is in a better place now. We will miss him dearly. I hope no one ever has to experience this pain. Please keep us in your prayers.” He also included two pictures of his son in the hospital bed.

Cricket Australia expressed their condolences on the microblogging platform, stating, “Our thoughts are with Fawad Ahmed and his family during this incredibly difficult time as they grieve the loss of their young son. The Australian Cricket community stands with them in support.”

In a recent interview with Cricket.com.au in September, Fawad opened up about the challenges he was facing. He said, “Every day, my son’s condition was getting worse. I wanted him to be able to hold a cricket ball and a cricket bat as soon as possible, so we sought medical help urgently.” Fawad expressed the uncertainty and pain they were going through and the unexpected nature of their son’s health issues.

According to reports, in August, their baby underwent a surgery to improve his breathing, but his health problems persisted, and his eyesight became a new concern for the family.

Fawad shared, “The birth of our child initially brought us joy, but soon after, we found ourselves in a dark place, unsure of what the future holds. Our lives have completely changed, revolving around daily visits to the hospital. It’s a heartbreaking and exhausting journey.”

Despite the difficult times, Fawad continues to play club cricket in Victoria and aims to pursue his career in the Big Bash League. He has represented Australia in five ODIs and two T20 Internationals in 2013.
