NASCAR team Trackhouse Racing may increase its involvement in MotoGP and Moto3 after being linked to a potential takeover of RNF’s entries, which were expelled from MotoGP over contract breaches.
Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira, previously with CryptoData RNF, may still compete in MotoGP as part of the provisional 2024 entry list for ‘Aprilia Racing Independent Team’, sparking speculation of Trackhouse’s potential role in filling the void.
Additionally, reports from Italy suggest that Trackhouse Racing, founded by Justin Marks, has shown interest in entering Moto3. With an available slot in the lightweight class, Trackhouse could expand its reach in grand prix motorcycle racing.
Justin Marks has reportedly been in discussions about a potential technical alliance in Moto3 after attending the Valencia season finale and meeting with Leopard Racing owner Flavio Becca, as mentioned in Italy’s GPOne.
An entry into Moto3 could provide Trackhouse with the opportunity to develop young talent for future premier class efforts, benefitting both Trackhouse and Aprilia.
Dorna Sports, the owner of MotoGP, is eager to expand its fanbase in the United States, and Trackhouse’s involvement could contribute significantly to this goal.
Alongside on-track success in the NASCAR Cup Series, Trackhouse has significantly raised the profile of the category through its ‘Project91’ program, including efforts to introduce new drivers such as Shane van Gisbergen.
Joel Kelso, a newcomer to Moto3, secured a spot on the grid after joining BOE Motorsports following a successful performance at Phillip Island, where he also achieved his first podium.
