Liverpool is on the verge of securing a spot in the Europa League knock-out stages with a chance to win a fourth consecutive game in Group E this Thursday night.
Having already achieved victory over LASK, Union St. Gilloise, and Toulouse, Liverpool now faces Toulouse in the return fixture. The French club, currently in second place in the group with four points, is facing challenges domestically, ranking 14th in Ligue 1 with only two wins in 11 games this season.
In their recent European encounter, Liverpool delivered a 5-1 thrashing against Toulouse at Anfield, with standout performances from Darwin Nunez and a bench-scoring Mohamed Salah. They’ve since secured two more victories domestically and managed to salvage a late draw at Luton in the Premier League over the weekend. This puts them in third place in the table.
Even though Jurgen Klopp may be tempted to rotate players, progressing early in the tournament would provide opportunities to rest key players and give a chance to fringe players on the team roster.
