On Wednesday’s signing day, the Auburn men’s and women’s golf teams announced the signing of Billy and Anna Davis, the No. 1 ranked twins.
Anna Davis is not only the top-ranked junior golfer in the country but also the sixth-ranked amateur in the world, including current college golfers.
At a young age of 17, Billy Davis has already competed in the PGA Tour, showcasing his talent by shooting four under par on the front nine during the first round of the World Wide Technology Championship last week in Mexico. Although he missed the cut, his potential is evident.
Billy Davis finished second at the 2023 Junior PGA Championship, solidifying his promising talent.
In 2023, the twins represented the United States team at the Junior Ryder Cup in Rome, further establishing their prowess in the sport.
Men’s golf head coach Nick Clinard expressed, “Not only is he an outstanding student but also an extremely talented young man that has earned his status as the top player in the nation through his work ethic, passion for the game and competitiveness. He will be a tremendous asset to our program. Billy loves Auburn and Auburn will love him and his sister as soon as they arrive.”
Anna Davis has an impressive resume stacked with international amateur championships, earning her the respect of many. Notably, her defeat against Auburn graduate student golfer Megan Schofill was a defining moment that validated Schofill’s capabilities.
Schofill’s victory over Davis in the 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship was a testament to her years of experience, winning in an upset over the high schooler.
Head coach Melissa Luellen lauded Davis, stating, “The young lady is super talented. She’s gone on to win the Augusta Women’s National Amateur Championship,” further highlighting Anna’s remarkable achievements.
The Davis’ hometown is Spring Valley, California, while Billy Davis listed Cypress Point as his favorite course in a press release.
