Wisconsin’s star running back, Braelon Allen, had to leave the game against Ohio State on Saturday night due to a lower left leg injury and was unable to return. This unfortunate incident occurred during the second quarter of the game.
Allen was visibly in pain as he limped off the field after being stopped for no gain in the final minute of the first half. He could later be seen wearing street clothes and a walking boot on the Badgers sideline, indicating the severity of his injury.
Prior to his injury, Allen had managed to accumulate 50 rushing yards but unfortunately lost possession of the ball twice, with one fumble being recovered by the opposing team.
Another player who suffered an injury in the same game was Badgers wide receiver Chimere Dike, who was unable to participate in the second half due to a leg injury.
During the post-game interview, Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell stated that he did not have any updates regarding the condition of either player.
It is worth noting that Wisconsin is already facing the absence of running back Chez Mellusi, who is out for the rest of the season due to a broken leg sustained back in September during a match against Purdue.
Allen has been a key player for the team, leading them with 754 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 130 carries. His impressive performance in the previous season earned him second-team All-Big Ten honors, where he ran for a total of 1,242 yards and achieved seven 100-yard games. In 2021, Allen rushed for 1,268 yards, averaging an outstanding 6.82 yards per carry. This achievement made him join the ranks of Ron Dayne (1996), James White (2010), and Jonathan Taylor (2017) as one of Wisconsin’s few freshmen to surpass 1,000 rushing yards.
