This week’s Houston Chronicle College Football Pick ’Em guest picker is Richie Leone, a former All-American punter at the University of Houston.
Leone was the Cougars’ primary punter from 2010-13. He earned All-Conference USA honors and was a second-team All-American honors in 2012 and was a second-team All-American Athletic Conference pick in 2013.
During his career, Leone was a three-time semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented to the nation’s top punter, and ranks second in school history in season punt average (45.5 yards in 2012) and career punt average (43.06). His five field goals against Temple in UH’s AAC debut in 2013 are tied for second-most in program history.
Leone just completed his seventh season in the Canadian Football League, where has been named a four-team All-Star. He currently plays for the Ottawa Redblacks.
