The start of the 2023-24 NBA season has not been kind to Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors. Once a key part of the team’s championship-winning lineup in 2022, the All-Star forward has struggled to find his footing this season, much to the chagrin of the Warriors organization.
According to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, sources within the Warriors have expressed frustration with Wiggins’ apparent lack of physical conditioning following an extended absence last season for personal reasons. It is reported that Wiggins did not prioritize physical fitness during the offseason, leading to discontent within the organization.
This season, Wiggins is recording career-low numbers in minutes per game, field goal attempts, and steals, indicating a decline in his overall performance. His shooting percentages for 3-pointers, free throws, and field goals have all plummeted to new lows, with his only standout game being a 31-point performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
As Golden State grapples to maintain its position in the competitive Western Conference, the team is relying on Wiggins to rediscover his impact on the court and provide consistent scoring alongside superstar Steph Curry.
