Warrenton shuts out Mexico to wrap up perfect regular season

Warrenton dominates with three first quarter touchdowns and a shutout victory, capping off their undefeated regular season.

Warrenton (9-0, 4-0 GAC North) achieved a flawless regular season by defeating Mexico 35-0.

The Warriors wasted no time taking the lead, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive for a 7-0 advantage. Charlie Blondin connected with Joe Goldsmith for a 20-yard touchdown pass. Warrenton’s defense then stopped Mexico on fourth down, leading to Austin Haas’ 73-yard rushing touchdown on the team’s second drive. On the final play of the quarter, Blondin threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Mason Thompson, giving Warrenton a commanding 21-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Blondin completed a 2-yard touchdown pass to Peyton Dawson, increasing Warrenton’s lead to 28-0 at halftime.

Warrenton added the only touchdown of the second half, with Haas scoring on a 3-yard run in the final minute of the third quarter.

Preserving the shutout, the Warrenton defense held Mexico inside the 5-yard line at the end of the game.

Next week, Warrenton will kick off the Class 4, District 4 tournament. The opponent is yet to be announced.
