Wallace tops Homestead-Miami practice | RACER

Bubba Wallace dominates NASCAR Cup Series practice at Homestead-Miami Speedway with his purple Grimace machine, setting the fastest overall lap at 169.088 mph (31.936 seconds). His impressive performance came on his first lap on the track, placing him in the lead among the first group of drivers.

The 23XI Racing driver also excelled in the best 10 consecutive lap average, showcasing his skill and potential for the upcoming race.

Wallace expresses his satisfaction with his performance and the appearance of his Grimace Toyota Camry TRD. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining speed throughout the 300-lap race and is excited to be back in Miami, highlighting the enjoyable nature of the track.

Last season, Wallace was unable to participate in the event at Homestead-Miami Speedway due to his suspension. This penalty was a result of an incident involving Kyle Larson at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where Wallace was temporarily removed from competition.

Austin Cindric secures second place with a speed of 167.999 mph, followed closely by Ryan Blaney at 167.764 mph. Christopher Bell claims the fourth position at 167.650 mph, while Michael McDowell captures fifth at 167.468 mph.

Martin Truex Jr. achieves the sixth fastest lap at 167.364 mph, with Denny Hamlin right behind him at 167.152 mph. Tyler Reddick secures the eighth position at 166.935 mph, while Brad Keselowski and Chase Briscoe round out the top 10 with speeds of 166.770 mph and 166.744 mph, respectively.

Kyle Larson, who has already secured a spot in the Championship 4, finishes 17th in practice. William Byron and Chris Buescher, the slowest playoff driver in practice, claim the 21st and 32nd positions, respectively.

During practice, Joey Logano faces an incident as he smashes into the inside wall on the backstretch after spinning off Turn 2. Despite initially having a competitive lap time, Logano blames dirty air and a failed passing attempt for the accident. As a result, he will use a backup car for the race and will not participate in qualifying.

Logano remains optimistic, believing that his Shell/Pennzoil Mustang has potential and hoping that his backup car will perform just as well.

The 4EVER 400 at Homestead features a field of 36 drivers ready to compete.
