Daniel Sturridge is quickly proving to be a brilliant pundit and a breath of fresh air with his analysis on Sky Sports. During his time on Monday Night Football, Sturridge meticulously broke down the finishing skills of Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.

Alongside Jamie Carragher, the former Reds attacker carefully examined several clips of the 24-year-old. While Nunez has already scored seven goals this season, he has also been responsible for some glaring misses, none worse than his four-yard sitter against Luton on Sunday.

Sturridge praised the Uruguayan’s “excitement” and “aggression”, noting that he “gives defenders nightmares”. However, he also provided advice on how Liverpool’s number 9 can improve his clinical finishing in front of goal.

Sturridge shared a personal experience from his time at Chelsea, when his then-manager Carlo Ancelotti advised him to study a DVD showcasing Filippo Inzaghi’s off-the-ball movements. This insight helped Sturridge make the runs necessary to get into scoring positions.

Additionally, Sturridge recommended that Nunez follow the advice of Andy Cole and “caress the ball into the back of the net” instead of “smashing the leather off the ball”.

The 34-year-old urged the Liverpool centre-forward to analyze his own game first and then study the world’s leading strikers. He also suggested reaching out to football legends of the past for advice on perfecting his finishing ability.
