Spanish drivers Vidales and Fraga, previously with B-Max, are aiming for Super Formula seats that are open to non-affiliated drivers.
Vidales made the move from FIA F3 but faced a challenging season, including a disappointing performance in the Motegi finale.
“It was the only choice after Thursday and Friday practice,” Vidales told Motorsport.com. “There were some problems that made the car feel unsafe to drive. It didn’t make sense to go into qualifying and risk a crash.”
Vidales finished ninth in the standings with a single podium finish at Okayama.
“In terms of results, this year has been very far away from what I was expecting,” he reflected. “We have been far away, not even close to being able to fight for something.”
Vidales has ruled out staying in Lights and is looking forward to stepping up to Super Formula in 2024.
Fraga ended the season positively at Motegi, scoring two podiums and securing fourth place in the standings.
“When we entered this season, we struggled a lot to find the right balance with the car,” Fraga told Motorsport.com.
Fraga is looking to join the Super Formula test in December and is considering his options for 2024 with an eye on Honda-powered teams.
