Victor Wembanyama closes NBA preseason with another ludicrous performance, starting with tip-off vs. Stephen Curry

Victor Wembanyama is making a case for himself as the most exciting player to watch in basketball, even during the NBA preseason.

In case you missed it, here are the highlights from Game 1, Game 2, and Game 3. These games showcased the incredible talent of this 19-year-old rookie, who stands at a towering 7-foot-4 and possesses the skills and instincts of a seasoned guard. Wembanyama ended his preseason with another impressive performance against the full-strength Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors embraced the challenge by sending their 6-foot-2 star Stephen Curry for the opening tip-off.

Preseason moments like these remind us why we love basketball.

There were countless impressive plays made by Wembanyama throughout the game. He blocked Klay Thompson’s 3-pointer, drained a 3-pointer himself, and even put Andrew Wiggins in a tough spot.

What stood out the most was how frequently Wembanyama’s long hands impacted the flow of the game. In one 90-second stretch, he made a long 2-pointer, scored an and-1 from the baseline, blocked Thompson, shot another 3-pointer, blocked Wiggins, and made yet another 3-pointer.

Wembanyama finished the game with 19 points on 8-of-19 shooting, including 2-of-7 from deep. He also contributed with four rebounds and five blocks in just 21 minutes of play, helping the Spurs secure a 122-117 victory.

Wembanyama’s unique physical attributes make him a player like no other in the history of the league. The questions now are whether he can remain injury-free and if the laws of physics can truly be bent.

Shohei Ohtani, a baseball player, had a similar path as Wembanyama, showing immense talent but plagued by injuries. We can only hope Wembanyama follows the former’s trajectory without the latter’s setbacks. Regardless, we are in for a treat watching his career unfold.

The San Antonio Spurs are set to start their regular season on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
