Victor Henry gives update on testicles, says UFC 294 foul not Javid Basharat’s fault

Victor Henry is still experiencing the aftermath of a painful blow to the groin during the recent UFC 294 event, but he holds no resentment towards his opponent Javid Basharat.

Although he initially chose not to comment on the shocking turn of events immediately following the match in Abu Dhabi, Henry (23-6 MMA, 2-1 UFC) took to his Instagram stories on Monday to update his fans on the condition of his testicles.

“Just a quick update for you all, the doctors confirmed that there is no permanent damage to my ‘family jewels,’ but I might have a funny walk for a few days,” Henry wrote. “The swelling has significantly reduced after applying ice. And for those suggesting a disqualification, that would be ridiculous. I don’t believe my opponent had any intention to strike me there. He threw a legal strike that accidentally hit an illegal spot. It’s not his fault, that’s just how MMA works.”

During the second round of their scheduled three-round fight at Etihad Arena, Henry and Basharat (14-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) experienced the unfortunate incident. Basharat has repeatedly contested the accuracy of the blow, which has fueled the frustration of Henry’s coach, Josh Barnett. Available replays of the incident offer only a partially obstructed view.

Upon impact, Henry collapsed awkwardly. He writhed in pain and rolled on the canvas. When the ringside doctor approached him, a disagreement ensued regarding the exact location of the strike.

However, Henry claims to have provided evidence to at least one medical professional to validate the accuracy of his account of where he was hit.
