Vesey’s Third-Period Rally Leads Rangers to Victory Over Red Wings

The Rangers (16-4-1) rallied in the third period with K’Andre Miller tying the game and securing an assist, while Lafreniere contributed two assists. Goaltender Igor Shesterkin made 25 saves, redeeming the team after their 5-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.

“It’s inevitable to have off games during an 82-game season, but it’s crucial for us to recognize the strength of our team and our solid structure,” Miller stated. “Staying true to our winning strategies is the key to securing victories in tough games, and that’s what we need to focus on.”

The Red Wings (11-7-3) faced disappointment with a loss, despite Robby Fabbri’s goal and assist, Andrew Copp’s two assists, and goalie Husso’s 38 saves, ending their three-game winning streak.

“It’s unacceptable to walk away without at least one point,” Fabbri expressed. “We had the lead for a while, playing our game from the past few matches. We let our guard down for a few minutes and paid the price.”

Detroit played without captain Dylan Larkin due to an undisclosed injury while Patrick Kane, who signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract with the Red Wings, was a healthy scratch.

Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere left the game early in the third period after being hit into the boards by Will Cuylle.

“We have no update on Shayne,” Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde reported. “It’s a head injury from a hit from behind into the boards, and he is currently being evaluated by the spotters for a possible concussion.”
