When it comes to scoring points, the Saints find themselves in a similar situation as the Steelers, both averaging 15.5 points per game. Interestingly, the Saints are one of only three teams that have scored 20 points or less in every game this season.
In the third week of the season, the Saints had a tough time in the second half against the Packers. Their offense failed to put up any points after Derek Carr left the game due to a shoulder injury. Despite entering the fourth quarter with a 17-0 lead, the Saints ended up losing by just one point. Last week was no better, as a less-than-fully-fit Carr couldn’t score a touchdown in a 26-9 defeat against the Buccaneers.
Recently, Allen was asked about Carmichael’s position on October 2nd and he replied that it is too early to consider making changes to the coaching staff.
Allen addressed the frustration and acknowledged the need for improvement. He told reporters that he understands why everyone feels frustrated and emphasized the need to do better.
Carmichael has been the Saints’ offensive coordinator since 2009 and has remained on the coaching staff from Sean Payton’s era.
For things to stay the same, improvements need to be seen. Key players, such as Carr, Kamara, and the offensive line, need to step up their game. Effective coaching can play a crucial role in getting the best out of these players.
In both instances, the ideal scenario would be to avoid making any changes. However, the pressure from fans is mounting. The only solution is an improved performance that can alleviate this pressure.
This Sunday, the Steelers will host the Ravens, while the Saints will visit the Patriots.
