After a strong 6-0 start, the North Carolina Tar Heels’ recent performances have been disappointing. Despite being favored by double-digits, they have suffered back-to-back losses.
Following their defeat against Georgia Tech, the Tar Heels’ projected bowl games have taken a hit. According to ESPN’s updated bowl projections, they are now expected to face off against two SEC teams.
According to Mark Schlabach, the Tar Heels might play against LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Day in Tampa Bay. Alternatively, Kyle Bonagura predicts a matchup in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl against another SEC team, the Florida Gators, in Jacksonville.
These bowl games are far from ideal, considering the Tar Heels’ promising start. However, there is still a chance for them to make it to a New Year’s Six game, but they will need to put in a lot of effort and may require some external help along the way.
