UCLA Football Receives $1 Million Donation to THEN NOW FOREVER Fund

The UCLA Athletic Department is thrilled to announce a substantial $1,000,000 commitment to the UCLA Football THEN NOW FOREVER fund from dedicated UCLA alumnus, Angelo Mazzone III. This generous donation will be allocated to enhance crucial areas for the UCLA Football student-athletes, such as academic support, comprehensive nutrition, technology, educational resources, and leadership development.

To honor Mazzone’s exceptional gift, the Players’ Terrace at the Wasserman Football Center will now be christened as The Angelo Mazzone Players’ Terrace.

Expressing his gratitude, Mazzone stated, “I feel it is extremely important for me to give back in appreciation for the opportunities that my association with UCLA and especially UCLA Football have afforded me throughout my life. I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude for the relationships I’ve enjoyed with so many very special people as part of the UCLA Football family, including my friendship with Coach Chip Kelly. It is my hope that others may be inspired as I have been to invest in the mission of UCLA Athletics and UCLA Football to help provide the necessary resources for UCLA’s student-athletes to thrive in pursuit of their academic, personal, and athletic goals.”

Mazzone has maintained a close relationship with UCLA and the football program since 1968, when he arrived on UCLA’s campus from his native Chicago as an undergraduate student. He immediately began serving as a UCLA Football Team Manager under head coaches Tommy Prothro and Pepper Rodgers. Following his graduation, Mazzone moved into administration for UCLA Athletics, serving as Assistant to the Athletic Director under J.D. Morgan and Bob Fischer. At the same time, he earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law. Over the past six decades, Mazzone has developed deep and enduring relationships with many Bruin players and coaches, including close friendships with the late legendary UCLA football coach Terry Donahue and current head football coach Chip Kelly.

A steadfast and loyal supporter of UCLA Football, Mazzone has remarkably attended every UCLA Football home game since 1968 and has traveled to nearly every UCLA Football away game over that same span. He has also built a successful career in several endeavors, including real estate development and entertainment hospitality, where he co-founded PrimeSport, Inc., a company which provided customers with VIP hospitality experiences at major sporting and entertainment events worldwide.

Martin Jarmond, UCLA’s Alice and Nahum Lainer Family Director of Athletics, expressed gratitude on behalf of UCLA, stating, “We are proud to honor Angelo’s contributions to UCLA Football as a permanent part of the Wasserman Football Center.”

UCLA Football Head Coach, Chip Kelly, also lauded Mazzone’s commitment, “I can’t think of anyone who has bridged so many eras of UCLA Football with the degree of passion, loyalty, and friendship to players, coaches, and everyone involved with UCLA Football than Angelo Mazzone. We simply can’t thank Angelo enough for this gift and everything that he’s invested in UCLA Football.”
